Connecting Slack

Connecting Slack lets Ren surface the conversations that matter from your team's work — they become coaching opportunities in your Morning Brief.

How to connect (admins or managers)

1. Go to Settings → Integrations in the Ren app.
2. Click Connect Slack and authorize Ren in your workspace.
3. Choose which specific channels to add Ren to.
4. Ren reads messages only in those channels to generate the brief — nothing is stored directly.

If you belong to more than one Ren workspace, you'll pick which one to connect during the flow. If Slack is already connected and something looks off, use the Reconnect button on the integration card.

What Ren reads (and doesn't)

Ren only reads messages in the specific channels that admins or managers explicitly add it to — it never scans your entire workspace, and it never reads direct messages unless it's explicitly added. Messages aren't stored in the app; they're read once to generate the Morning Brief, then only the summary is kept.

Ren also reads message reactions and call activity in those channels, so it understands team dynamics — not just message text.

Member matching

After connecting, Ren matches people in your Slack workspace to people in Ren by email address. The integration card shows who's matched and who isn't. If someone shows as unmatched, the usual cause is a different email in Slack than in Ren.
